Photographs from "Downtown Super Sunday" along Bayou St. John at Orleans Avenue, with parade down Orleans Avenue into Treme and the 7th Ward.
The photographs below were taken at Uptown Super Sunday in 2016. Bo Dollis had died in 2015, and some of the costumes are tributes to him and the Wild Magnolias. In this gathering of tribes, each tribe marches in from their own neighborhood or an area near the assembly point, A.L.Davis Park, from where the massed parade begins, wanders through the nearby neighborhoods in center city and returns to the park. Because of the way the Indians assemble and the large crowds, it is much harder to get good pictures of the costumes.
